Character Scenarios: Movie Theater (10 characters)

This. Is the voice of the theater.

Welcome to ~Movie Time~ where 10 chosen characters or things will attempt to enjoy a movie theater together. Will they? Not while I’m here! Maybe. (Confused? Go here!)

This one is long, but I made it easily split into two separate parts, so you can choose one, the other, or both! I hope your characters are ready for popcorn, overpriced food, and rude strangers failing to understand common etiquette in a place of art and sound like this. Can I have some popcorn? Writing this made me really crave movie theater popcorn.

Anyway!

Part 1: Let’s all go to the lobby~

1. This theater is packed. It is the opening night of…some show. 2 has been camping out in line for 3 hours to get a ticket. What kind of show could have driven them to wait this long? 

2. 3 and 9 are bickering over something in line at the concessions stand. What are they bickering about? 

3. 1 has snuck their own candy into the theater. Where are they hiding it as they walk through the lobby? 

4. 4 brings 2 some popcorn and asks if they can join them in line. 

5. 8 is waiting in line right behind 2. How do they feel about 4 joining 2? 

6. 7 is working the concessions stand tonight. Do they like their job?

7. 1 is waiting for 3 and 9’s argument to get more intense. They try sneaking into a theater without a ticket. Is this normal for 1? 

8. Finally the line for the opening night movie moves! Er. It should be moving, but the couple right in front of 2 is lost in a deep kiss right now. How do 2, 4, and 8 deal with this?

9. 5 and 10 are the couple making out in front of 2. Do what you will with that. 

10. 6 spilled their popcorn when a kid ran in front of them. Now they’re asking 7 for a refill. The management doesn’t allow free refills here. Will 7 fulfill the request or make 6 pay for a new one? 

Part 2: In the Theater

1. 3 and 9 happened to pick seats beside each other in the theater. Hope that goes well! If not, maybe they can switch seats with someone else. Who would they prefer to sit beside in this crowded theater? 

2. Some kid won’t stop kicking 1’s seat. Will they try to get them to stop? 

3. 2 got the perfect seat in the middle of the theater. Or… maybe that’s not actually the ideal seat for them. Do they like this seat? 

4. Oooooh, there is a mess of popcorn all over 8’s seat. What do they do? 

5. 4 is hungry. There is only popcorn, nachos, and a hotdog at the concessions. Do they leave now to get something, with the risk of missing the beginning of the movie? 

6. 5 and 10… What are you doing in the back of the theater? Did you even come here to watch this movie? 

7. Speaking of food, is 6 eating anything during this movie?

8. Shh! The movie’s starting! I said Shhh, 3! Who are you talking to during this movie? WHY?

9. Halfway through the movie, 9 needs to pee. Do they leave now or wait till the end?

10.  What is that light that keeps flashing? 6, didn’t you hear the request to turn off your phone? Do you even have a phone? 

11. A loud sound explodes from 8’s vicinity. Well, well, well, did you remember to turn off YOUR phone? Or was that a sneeze? Did you drop something? (What is more likely? How do they react?)

12. *Sigh* The movie’s over. 2 is staying for the entire credits. Why? 

13. 7 waits for 2 to leave so they can clean up the theater. They have an interaction before 2 is gone. Hopefully it is friendly? What is it?

14. 7 finally gets a good view of the theater. It is a mess—obviously Terrance didn’t clean up anything during his shift before 7’s. What will 7 do? 

I hope everyone (except Terrance and that rowdy kid) had a good time! Maybe 6 and 1 can team up to give that kid what for! Tune in next time for something completely different!
